Luke Freshwater graduated from ROTC in 2010 and joined the United States Army as a commissioned officer. Wanting to be a part of something bigger than himself, Luke went through a year of training and became an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) technician. After four years of active duty, which included a tour of Afghanistan, Luke made the decision to serve in the reserves - a position that he still holds today. Knowing that the discipline and training he received from the military would be best utilized in a leadership role, Luke and his father, John, decided to follow an entrepreneurial path and become owners of their own Le Macaron French Pastries franchise!
Le Macaron has provided both Luke and John, who worked as a smokejumper parachuting into remote areas to combat wildfires, with an opportunity to utilize their different skill-sets in order to find success as entrepreneurs. Based off of this, Luke also understands that each employee of his has their own unique set of strengths and weaknesses so as their leader, it's up to him and John to reflect on these skill sets, improve upon them, and adjust their own management strategies to bring out the best in everybody.
When talking about starting his own business and being an entrepreneur, Luke had this to say:
